The Secret to Cutting a Tiered Wedding Cake

Three-tiered round cake.
1. Start by removing the top 6-inch cake tier, which the bride and groom can save for their first wedding anniversary celebration.
2. Cut a circle about 2 inches from the outer edge of the 10-inch cake tier.
3. Make cuts about 1-inch apart on this circle to slice it completely.
4. Use the same procedures to cut another 2-inch ring and slice it into 1-inch wide pieces.
5. Repeat this procedure to cut the entire tier.
6. Cut the 14-inch cake tier in the same manner as the 10-inch tier.
Three-tiered square cake.
1. Start by removing the top 6-inch cake tier, which the bride and groom can save for their first wedding anniversary celebration.
2. Cut a line about 2 inches from any outer edge of the 10-inch tier.
3. Make cuts about 1-inch apart on this row to slice it completely.
4. Cut another line 2 inches from the new edge and slice this row.
5. Repeat the procedure to cut the entire tier. You should produce five rows in the 10-inch cake tier.
6. Cut the 14-inch cake tier in the same manner as the 10-inch tier. You should produce seven rows in this cake tier.
